Becoming a duel American/British Citizen – This was another important turning point. Obtained when he was 16 years old, this seemingly inconspicuous event is the thing that set him above his competitors for the SGC slot this year.
Being Born – the single most important event in his life – without it, nothing else would have occurred.

Main goal:

Being awesome 100 percent of the time

Greatest fear:

Not being awesome – but whenever I feel that I’m not awesome, I just pull out more awesomeness and continue being awesome.

What does your character not like about themselves? At least three things.

Dislikes that he is not as proficient with rifles and handguns as he wishes he could be
Dislikes that he is not a particularly smart cookie.
Dislikes that his living quarters outside of the SGC is a small apartment.

Why was your character chosen for the Stargate program? (Include any skills that would be part of the reason.)

Richard was chosen for the SGC because of his particular talents with explosives. As an explosive specialist, Richard has proven himself valuable on many different fronts in the war on terrorism to include multiple wall breaches in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as other demolition work in various undercover operations around the world that have not been disclosed to the public as yet. Add that he had duel American/British citizenship and his particular skillset became a shoe in for the fledgling SGC as international relations became a more important thing to obtain. Richard affiliates himself more closely with that of the British Government, more so than the American due to his British Military position.

Describe your character's personality, at least one hundred words.

Richard is a fun loving, free spirited, sarcastic person that enjoys his job and life. Enjoying his life and having much to live for are two different things however and he would be the first to throw himself in the face of danger if no other method could be thought of., risking his life for the sake of his fellow mates. While employing humor in many situations, when it comes to getting the job done Richard never skips a beat, serious as all can be. When he’s not being particularly utilized, he is oftentimes found in the back cracking jokes, making otherwise dark and heavy situations a little bit lighter, allowing for all to work better as a team and concentrate more on the silver lining and getting through situations then on focusing on the bad parts.

Your character's history, at least 300 words.

Richard had a fairly normal life, for a guy. Like most men, he was fascinated with explosions, guns and anything else that made a “booming” noise. He was an average student, trying hard at school but not quite grasping everything thrown at him. Nothing really out of the ordinary occurred growing up until his high school years. His mother left the British Isles, heading to the United States for career reasons. Richard applied for and was granted dual citizenship, allowing him to visit his mother on a regular basis and staying the summers in Los Angeles, where his mother obtained a job as a high ranking executive of a pharmaceutical company. In his teenaged years he became more and more of a playboy, bouncing from girl to girl which contributed to his carefree lifestyle. Upon graduation, Richard joined the British army having not been able to secure himself a decent college admission. Initially he started out in Artillery, learning the specifics about each shell he was loading and firing. This triggered his interest in the mechanics of explosives instead of just sending them downrange. After a few years in the military, a position was advertised for an explosives expert. Richard decided to apply, was accepted and trained for several months in high explosives. Upon graduation he joined the British SAS where he was deployed almost non stop to fields downrange, including Iraq, Afghanistan and other, not yet disclosed locations. One year ago he was approached by his platoon sergeant, giving him a sealed package sent down from higher HQ. In it was his orders for the SGC. He discussed the position with his platoon leader and was recommended for the position by his chain of command due to his explosive skillset and his dual citizenship, allowing for an easier cover story within Colorado itself. He left for Colorado 2 months later and joined the SGC. At the SGC, Richard serves as an explosives expert. In addition he also serves as a British Liaison, ensuring British interests in the SGC program are being met.

Roleplay sample (please use the character you're creating):

Reaching down to his side for another clip of ammunition, Richard realized he had no more left. He throws his weapon on the ground behind a rock, sprinting between cover quickly making his way to the malfunctioning control crystal upon with no further options left to him, he smashes it with the handle of his blade, causing the crystal to explode into a shower of energy and shards.
